Jessica Lefebvre, MC
Registered Clinical Counsellor
I understand that all people have a natural capacity to grow through hardships and challenges toward a life that is more fulfilled, content, and joyful. My work involves helping youth, adults, and families uncover their deep-rooted strengths and intuitive knowing, which may have become hidden or complicated through various difficult, painful, or confusing experiences that we each encounter at some point throughout our lives. My work also includes giving meaningful attention to people’s life contexts, and understanding how particular life experiences may influence people’s ability to create change.
Combining multiple counselling theories in my work, I regularly draw on solution-focused, narrative therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, and systems theory. At the core of my philosophy is a belief that you are the expert in your life, even when you may feel like you aren’t sure how you got to where you are, or about what steps to take next. My skill is in helping you explore, understand, create, and act.
I have worked in the counselling field with children, youth, and families for close to 20 years. Areas in which I have particular interest and expertise include: fears, worries and anxiety; sadness and depression; body image and disordered eating/eating disorders; self-injury; self-esteem and identity development; parent-teen relationships; separation and divorce; substance misuse and addiction; sexualized violence, gender identity and sexuality; and life transitions.
I look forward to meeting with you.
